Harvesting for Scholarships
The
Harvesting for Scholarship event was founded by Robert Challener
and Nelson Morrow to further focus raising funds for arts education
scholarships for Bay Area teens. Since the founding of this event
Ruth Eckerd Hall's Youth Scholarship Program has awarded nearly
$155,000 in scholarships to 150 deserving high school
students to further their study of the arts. Additionally, the
donations our donors have given to this event has provided $82,340
in assistance enabling 355 youth, ages five through eighteen,
which otherwise would not have been able to afford to study at
The Marcia P. Hoffman Performing Arts Institute. The four types
of assistance available -- needs based Tuition Assistance, Work-Study
and talent based Tuition Scholarships and scholarships for students
enrolled in the Institute to pursue post secondary studies and
training. With our donors help, these assistance programs have
helped students go on to achieve outstanding goals in the arts
and in their lives.
The
event also provides an opportunity for Ruth Eckerd Hall to present
the annual Marcia P. Hoffman Arts Education Award to an
outstanding individual or organization who has made a significant
contribution to the community by providing or making possible
excellence in the field of arts education.
The date for the Tenth Annual Harvesting for Scholarships
to be announced.
